Language tests

A few extra points on a language test can change your ranking. Prepare with a method.

Results that make a difference

Language tests are decisive in many immigration programs. In Express Entry, your results weigh heavily in your score, and French can earn you extra points.

Results are expressed as Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB in English, NCLC in French) for each of the four skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

Our support helps you understand the test structure, master what examiners expect and perform at your best on test day.

Frequently asked questions

Which test should I choose, English or French?

It depends on your level and your program. Taking a test in each language can raise your Express Entry score: we assess with you whether it is worth it.

How long are my results valid?

For federal immigration, two years from the results date. They must be valid when you submit your application.

What level should I aim for?

Each program sets a minimum, but a higher level often earns extra points. We set a realistic and worthwhile goal with you.
